New Classes

We have scheduled our next series of classes for the fall. The popular sweatshirt jacket class is scheduled for November 12, Monday, at 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm or in the evening, 6 pm - 9 pm. The cost for the class is $25 plus supplies. We have sewing machines available for students. Many of the ladies made a jacket to support their favorite college team but also learned the jacket making process to make a quilted jacket for every day wear.

Sewers are invited to a wool applique/penny rug class on November 13 at 6:30 pm. The class is $25 and the kit is included in the class fee. Students will learn the history of the penny rug and work on completing a winter poinsettia penny rug table runner. This class is sometimes referred to our "Fun Nite".

If any quilter is interested in learning machine free motion quilting/stippling and binding; an early morning class is scheduled for November 13 at 8 am to 10 am. Class fee is $25 and this includes a learning kit and monofilament thread. We have machines in the shop for students but it is suggested you bring your machine from home. This way you know how or if your home machine can stipple.

Cheri will be having a beginner hand quilting, piecing and applique class beginning the first of the year. This is a series class. I will keep you posted when I get more info from Cheri on costs and how many Saturdays. Cheri is in the shop on Tuesday if you would like to speak with her personally with any questions.

Norma is also working on a Bible Quilt for the first of the year. It too will be one Saturday a month. Blocks from the Bible Quilt are on display in the shop. Norma works Fridays and is very helpful with your machine quilting questions.

Webkinz Craze

We're a gift and quilt fabric shop, but the latest craze is the Webkinz. These cute stuffed animals are the latest craze the kids want. With the purchase of a Webkinz, the child logs onto a computer and adopts his new pet. They can then play games, earn points, and correspond with other Webkinz their friends own. We have a large selection now including the latest hard to find Black Stallion and Black Lab. Give the shop a call to order or reserve your new pet. They're going fast. Tel. New Christmas and Halloween fabric

Yes quilters, the Christmas and Halloween '07 fabric is arriving daily. Yesterday I unpacked a beautiful collection from the designer Anna Griffin. Anna is known for her scrapbook paper designs. She's put her designs on fabric. Her new Christmas collection "Grace Christmas" is a beautiful vintage collection featuring Victorian Christmas trees, Santas, and more. I've sent the list to our web hostess, "Hattie's Workshop". She should have this collection up in a week or two.

We already have many of the new 2007 Fall and Christmas collections posted on our web page. We have "Snow Village" from Moda that is a winter toille. We have "Let it Snow" designed by Ohio's Deb Strain. This collection has a panel along with coordinates. Look for these fabrics under the "Moda" listing.

Benartex has a beautiful Christmas Nativity panel and coordinates for 2007. This can be seen on our "Other" fabric list.

Thimbleberries has a new collection called "Christmas Street". I ordered the patterns for this collection and they should arrive soon.

Fresh & New

Abbey is home from college for the summer and has been busy painting the old paneling a new fresh cream color. Makes all the new beautiful quilts and fabric show up much better. Shirley has displayed the antiques from her family on the display shelves that are close to the ceiling. She eliminated the clutter on the shelves and the antiques are now more visible. We've had a carpenter come in and make more shelves for fabric. We're working on organizing the fabric and re-hanging the samples. Please stop by and see the difference. It's a nice clean look.
